I caught Curse of the Starving Class last night here in NYC and I have to say I think it defies the middling reviews. Calista Flockhart, in particular, was excellent, and it was a pleasure to see young Cooper Hoffman (Licorice Pizza) live.

Hoffman had a full-on nude scene, which can't be easy at 22. Then, after the play, a woman who was a pal of Christian Slater's was telling him she had seen him 30 years ago. He was nonplused, considering he is a kid. I wondered if she were confusing him with his late dad, Philip Seymour Hoffman?

At any rate, it's a very interesting play. And the live sheep nearly stole the thing.
