A 31-year-old gay man cleverly, cutely wrote a post on X regarding Sam Nivola's character on The White Lotus: “I can fix him.” That exploded into a huge swath of gays calling him a pedophile, parroting right-wing talking points, because the character is 18, and 18-31 is an unacceptable age gap.

Fucking bullshit.

Though he was put out by the tidal wave of hate he received, apologized and deleted it, the debate has raged on. It's ridiculous. Who are these people? There is nothing fucking wrong with finding an adult of any age hot. Why do they think The White Lotus has Sam Nivola shirtless all the time? They had a scene in which he jerked off his older brother. Is Mike White a pedophile for conceiving and filming it, even though the 18-year-old is really a 22-year-old actor? I'm fucking sick of this anti-sex, anti-reality Gen Z (mostly, but it's trickled up) notion that you have to be within a few scant years of any potential sex partner or romantic partner's age or there is a power differential — or it means you're a pedophile. It doesn't. It means you are attracted to an attractive person.

If someone fetishizes a person only for being or looking underage, then they may have a problem. But it's absolutely normal to see a hot 18-year-old or 20-year-old or 45-year-old and be attracted to them. Whenever porn is made, the vast majority of it is young, hot people. That isn't propaganda, it's supply-and-demand, and I can assure you that because your 70-year-old dad is whacking off to sorority girls, that doesn't make him a pervert or a pedophile, it makes him a guy lucky enough to have a functioning prostate. Good for him.

By the way, on the flip, Gen Z culture gives away that age gaps are normal. Where do these young people get off policing who we (I'm 56, so I guess I'm creepy upon impact) find attractive when they're running around using the term “daddy” for everything and joking (?) they want older men to crush them, etc.?

It's identical to the insidious campaign by the right to demonize all gay men as pedophiles and groomers. Now, all these young, supposedly progressive (FREE PALESTINE BUT DON'T DATE ANYONE MORE THAN 4 MONTHS YOUNGER THAN YOU) people are taking up that mantle, and it needs to be nipped in the bud.
