Delaware Dem Sarah McBride made history this month when she won her election to become the first transgender person elected as a state senator.
She just posted this pithy exchange with a constituent goading her about her gender identity. This is part of why she won, and is now the highest-ranking trans elected official in U.S. history.

“You voted!” Senator Kamala Harris said in her history-making remarks on the evening she has become Vice President-elect Kamala Harris.
In her remarks from Delaware, Kamala quoted the late Rep. John Lewis, whose state of Georgia looks to be falling into the Biden/Harris column, saying, “'Democracy is not a state, it is an act ...' You ushered in a new day for America!”
She also said the voters had chosen “hope, unity, decency, science and, yes, truth. You chose Biden as the next president of the United States of America!”
She also made sure to stress how important the role of women had been in delivering Biden/Harris this decisive win.

Biden jogged out onstage (take that, naysayers) and immediate said his was a clear and convincing victory. He said his mandate is for hope, decency, science, racial justice, prosperity, saving the climate and health care. On the science tip, he delved into some specifics about a group of scientists he will gather to help look into getting COVID-19 under control, which sounds like his #1 priority.
He pledged to be a unifier, not to see red vs. blue states and to restore the image of America on the world stage.
I loved how Biden stressed the importance of his family while also noting that Dr. Jill Biden is a teacher, who will be an advocate for teachers.
Pounding his fists on his podium, Joe singled out Black voters, thundering, “You've always had my back — and I'll have yours!”
It was a robust (“Let this grim era of demonization in America begin to end now!”) and warm (“This is a time to heal in America!”) speech ... and several days overdue. (Collapses in relief.)
Sidebar: Did you see Kamala jump when that confetti device POP-ed? Yikes, I was worried, too!
I can't wait for Inauguration Day!
By the way, a couple of lovely reactions to the good news that Trump was dumped:
