It's been a long time coming, but Boy Culture: Generation X is available for rent as of November 7 — on Amazon, Apple, Google, Samsung, YouTube, Roku and more. I would really appreciate any of you checking it out!
Over the next few days, I'm posting some photos from our 11-day shoot, which should give you a great peek into what it was like making this long-simmering sequel to Boy Culture (2006) ...
It's been a long journey from Milan to Minsk, but Boy Culture: Generation X is coming to YouTube, Amazon U.S./U.K., Roku, Apple, Google, Samsung and more — NOVEMBER 7.
One benefit of a project taking a while to come out is you're so fucking ready, you're not really on pins and needles about reception. But I'm very proud of this, and I hope everyone who sees it will laugh, be touched and/or feel aroused in all the right places.
The scoop:
Seventeen years after the first film, Derek Magyar and Darryl Stephens are back as X and Andrew, and Jason Caceres joins as precocious Chayce. With a Y.
What I love about the new piece is it's got more issues to chew on, yet the performances drive it. Derek is still that James Dean lead, but gets to play a James Dean who has lived past young buckdom. Darryl is a wonderfully rich presence as Andrew, the voice of reason who just wants a normal life and relationship, but has chosen in X a highly complicated romeo.
Jason is hilarious as Chayce! His timing is impeccable!
Add to the big three a winning and revealing performance by Steve Grand, a tour de force by Ralph Cole Jr. that swings from broadly funny to moving, an all-in Doug Spearman and — because it's called Boy Culture but that isn't a requirement — a fabulous contribution by Dalila Ali Rajah.
I will remind you on November 7!

Boy Culture: The Series, which got its start on Kickstarter, is — as I wrote yesterday — perilously close to being finished.
Sexy actor Todd Lien has a part, and plays his part by masking up!
More from Todd's Instagram:
More pics from the recording of pickups and series lead Derek Magyar's essential, atmospheric narration have arrived, these from my co-writer and the series' director, Q. Allan Brocka.
Derek with his curly COVID-19 locks laying down his narration.
Should be pitched to the platforms within a couple of weeks. Phew! Long process. But it's really good, so it was worth the wait!

For those of you who supported my project Boy Culture: The Series on Kickstarter, here is a rare and long-overdue update: It's almost done!
Today, we laid down the crucial V.O. (a couple of lines the actors needed to re-do for clarity, and Derek Magyar's essential narration). Next, we are just tweaking music and graphics. So within the month of August, Boy Culture: The Series, which has long existed in a watchable form, but which needed all those finishing touches to make it ready to air, will be done.
More Pics, These from Q. Allan Brocka!
Next up: Pitching it to all the platforms you are thinking we will pitch it to.
Like I said, it is a polished product, so the hope is it will be scooped up and aired in a timely manner, rather than licensed and worked on more.
Safety first! (And people say you can't see smiles with masks ... )
In the meantime, here are some snaps from today's V.O. session by one of our leads, Jason Caceres, who plays a newly introduced character — Chayce, the twink you love to hate.
Stay tuned for good news when I have it, and yes, there are some minor spoilers in these pics if you squint ...
