California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) has announced Emily's List president Laphonza Butler to replace the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) in the Senate.

Butler has worked tirelessly for women's reproductive rights and on behalf of electing Democrats up and down the ticket.

Seems a wise choice.

Also, NO preconditions barring her from running in 2024, which could complicate things for the Dems already running.

P.S. Soon-to-be Sen. Butler is openly gay.
