Former model Scott R. Brunton, in a THR story, claims gay icon and Star Trek trailblazer George Takei attempted to take advantage of him sexually at the end of a 1981 date.

According to Brunton, he and Takei were casual friends who went on a date — dinner and a play — before going back to Takei's place for drinks. While there, Brunton recalls passing out during his second drink. He does not explicitly state that he was drugged, but he is clearly implying that. When he awoke, he says Takei was groping him, trying to get his underwear off. When he said no, Takei asked him to relax, which led Brunton to say no a second time, push him away, and leave. He said he sat in his car until he felt well enough to drive.

Takei did not immediately respond, but addressed the lag in his response in what comes across as a sincere, Saturday morning Facebook post on the subject, in which he flatly denies the incident ever occurred:

JR Ford, a concerned dad of a trans daughter, writes: “Every time we let any hate speech fester without rebuke, we perpetuate a future where kids and adults like my own child could be the next target for violence merely for catching the eye of a man so insecure in themselves that they would resort to violence because of attraction ... We cannot treat that daily threat of violence as normal.”

Never paid a huge amount of attention to Katy Perry. I remember loving the sound of her first album, questioning “Ur So Gay,” not liking Teenage Dream much and even getting a note from her publicist asking why on earth I didn't have a Katy Perry category on my blog.

Yeah, that's how long I've been around — long enough that I remember a time when Katy Perry's publicist cared about Boy Culture for a hot second.

But I definitely like her more esoteric, melodramatic songs, and I am utterly hooked on “Chained to the Rhythm” after initially being fairly unmoved. I feel like it has a propulsive pop beat reminiscent of delightful junk like “Rock On” by Michael Damian and “The Safety Dance,” yet the music is so “Ain't Nobody” by Rufus & Chaka Khan. Plus, the lyrics are smart and provocative considering she's supposed to be fluff and nothing more.

I can not get the chorus out of my head — and I don't even like music anymore!

Now, after that totally distracting lyric video, it looks like February 21 will be the drop date for her official video, at least according to a mysterious announcement (what else?) video, which also features a George Takei voice-over ...

The Republican-controlled North Carolina legislature has reneged on a promise to repeal the state's disgusting anti-LGBTQ law, H.B. 2, even after the city of Charlotte repealed it's LGBTQ rights measure in anticipation of the rollback.

You can tell a Republican is lying when their lips are moving, but that doesn't go far enough — I think they lie in their dreams, too. I wish more would lie in state. North Carolina's going to have a tough slog ridding itself of the lasting effects of the outgoing administration's last-second power grab, let alone the ill effects of enacting H.B. 2 in the first place.
