Night 1 of the DNC was lit. AOC, Jasmine Crockett and Hillary Clinton were the best of the bunch — and that was all before President Joe Biden took the stage at 11: 25 p.m. to rapturous applause and copious tears. “America, I love you!” he exclaimed forcefully, before delivering a sharp, focused and yet warm speech.
So much for Trump's statement that Joe was being buried on Monday night — what an effective rollout this was for Night 1 of the convention. (And thank GOD we did not have an open convention like some wanted.)
I was impressed with Night 1, not just because of its strong rhetoric, but also for its adherence to various vote-getting themes — patriotism, doing what's right, fighting for reproductive freedom, giving the working class a fair shake.
Good grief, we have three more nights and Night 1 was this uplifting? Kamala's getting a fucking bounce. Book it.
I might add Jasmine to this, too, but AOC really struck me as a future president tonight. (Images via video still)
