Actor Kal Penn of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle and House fame came out as gay in his CBS Sunday Morning interview today. He also writes about his sexual orientation in his new memoir You Can't Be Serious, which he was on the show to promote.

More than 3/4 of the way into the profile, correspondent Luke Burbank casually mentions Penn's relationship with his partner, Josh, pointing out that Penn reveals his relationship in his book in a “matter-of-fact” way.
Penn, who worked in the Obama Administration for two years, agrees, saying:
You know, Josh and I have been together for 11 years — we had our 11th anniversary in October — so for me, in writing about it I think the tricky thing was, you're right, it's very matter-of-fact in our lives, and when you're the son of Indian immigrants who says that you want to be an actor, the chaos that that creates in your family and your community will trump anything else always!
He later told People exclusively that he and Josh are engaged, going on to say:
I discovered my own sexuality relatively late in life compared to many other people. There's no timeline on this stuff. People figure their shit out at different times in their lives, so I'm glad I did when I did.
You Can't Be Serious is out on November 2.
