The New York Times has run a compelling, tantalizingly short piece on its former style editor, John Duka, the man presumed to have been the inspiration for Larry Kramer's Felix from The Normal Heart. What an interesting, short life.

My pal Gordon gets credit for this idea. I think it hilariously skewers the “first!” meme, which has admittedly already veered into absurdist territory on its own.

The Normal Heart's Matt Bomer gives a wide-ranging interview to HIVPlusMag, in which he speaks about meeting Larry Kramer and likens it to meeting a Beatle.

He also says his participation in the film changed his life:

“I don’t know how you could be a part of this movie and not be changed on some level, unless you’re just really a slab of concrete. It’s so rare that you get to portray a well-written character that’s fully developed and is also part of a story that you hope has some type of social significance, and also that changes you.”
