Latin superstars, Democrats from all walks and even some scared Republicans swiftly condemned unfunny comic Tony Hinchcliffe's unfunny, xenophobic remarks at Trump's MSG rally Sunday — but has the damage been done?
Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage, the most bluntly hateful comment and the one setting social media ablaze, as well as mocking Hispanics for making babies and being unwelcome in the U.S.
He later pointed out a Black man and made a watermelon joke.
Creative guy. Really fresh stuff.
One joke I am shocked isn't getting as much play — he fantasized that Travis Kelce could be the next O.J., clearly implying he'd like him to murder Taylor Swift.
Puerto Rican icons J.Lo, Bad Bunny and Ricky Martin immediately shared Kamala Harris endorsements, VP Walz called Hinchcliffe a jackwad, and even some Republicans sought to distance themselves from the fallout. Sen. Rick Scott, who is in a fierce battle in Florida — which has a large Puerto Rican population — all but prostrated himself before the community.
These people cannot help it. They're xenophobic to the core, and even to try to get their man elected, he can't suppress it.
