BOB MIZER MUSEUM: Photographer Carter Smith’s first solo exhibition in San Francisco opens at the Bob Mizer Museum and Photographic Archives September 3. Backwoods Boys: The Monstrous Masculine by Carter Smith focuses on Smith’s obsession with working-class male archetypes, but is presented as going beyond that, to involve queer intimacy and even vulnerability.
But most of all, it’s relentlessly hot.
Den Bell, the Bob Mizer founder and CEO, says:
“We have long admired photographers who challenge conventional representations of the male figure. Carter Smith's work continues that conversation in remarkable ways. These photographs reject cliché and instead offer nuanced, emotionally resonant portraits that expand how we think about masculinity in contemporary photography.”
The show runs through November 28.

JOE.MY.GOD.: I’ll never forget all these dumb Dems who got caught up in the Hasan Piker brouhaha, let alone any Dem voters in Michigan who can’t stomach El-Sayed when we have a Trumpian liar like Mike Rogers as the alternative. The Senate already has a lot of detestable people and more than a few idiots in that formerly esteemed body — we need to avoid another at all costs. Latest: Rogers is pretending he helped kill Osama bin Laden.
EXTRATV: I just wrote all about how annoying grief police are — people who get mad at others for going ape when a celebrity dies — and here comes Bill Maher to present himself as one of the worst yet. While chastising the world for pausing to reflect on the death of Dolly Parton, Maher felt compelled to toss in a boob joke.

FACEBOOK: It’s utterly bonkers that a full-on job today can be “be cute and dance around,” but hey, more power to ‘em. This guy has killer moves and is gorgeous. I hope he’s not an asshole.
