Boy Culture Links: Dylan Efron's Underwear, Netflix Head on Why 'Boots' Was Discharged, But Our (Pride) Flag Was Still There, Jinkx as Judy, Students Smile Through Slur + MORE
FEBRUARY 13, 2026
INSTAGRAM: Dylan Efron gets ready so that you can get set and GO.
KENNETH IN THE (212): Queer and -adjacent mags of the moment.

VARIETY: Variety’s Marc Malkin was slimed for his performance on the Golden Globes as co-announcer, but when he had Netflix boss Ted Sarandos on the spot, he didn’t hesitate to ask why Boots didn’t get a Season 2. (Though I wish he wouldn’t call the Department of Defense the Department of War, a name that will be changed as soon as Dems take over again.) Ted sez he was a fan, but:
“These are all business decisions based on audience relative to the cost of the show. Do the people who push play watch it till the end? Do they give it a couple of thumbs up? Does it keep growing? All of those things. That decision is made every day. The beauty of why people get upset when you cancel a show is because they love them. That’s the best part about our business, it’s that people really love the product. And it’s heartbreaking to cancel any show, ever, particularly a show that Norman Lear brought to me. It was his last show.”

SPECTRUM NEWS: A gay foster couple who were hounded and harassed by their foster kids’ messy mom have been reunited with their children. An ACS special investigation case worker confirmed this in a recorded phone call, yet the only reason the kids went back home was due to a family court judge’s decision.
THEM: It’s probably not helpful to admit it, but Chelsea Manning “really misses prison a lot.” She claims prison has more of a sense of community and is irritated that everything in the outside world “requires you to download an app.”
VOGUE: Jinkx Monsoon is talking about debuting as Judy Garland in the London revival of End of the Rainbow.
ADVOCATE: New Yorker's rallied in solidarity to get the Pride flag reinstalled outside the Stonewall National Monument. And it happened. Meanwhile, I saw someone posted a shot of Mamdani regarding his firm statement smacking Trump down over this flag flap and two gay commenters were saying they agreed but not with Mamdani being a part of it. The hate runs deep. (One was asking what the heck he’s done since becoming mayor — checks notes — six weeks ago.)
HUFFINGTON POST: Clinton was forever smeared by a BJ in the Oval, but Kristi Noem and Corey Lewandowski have definitely proceeded well beyond the oral stage in their mile-high private cabin. (Paid for by us.)
YOUR CENTRAL VALLEY: A group of grinning kids used their shirts to spell out the word “2FAGGOTS” for a school photo op in Visalia, California, and the district isn’t taking it lightly. Visalia Unified Superintendent Kirk Shrum said via statement:
“We have recently been made aware of an image circulating in which Redwood students coordinated to spell out a hateful, homophobic slur. This is unacceptable behavior and this matter is being thoroughly investigated and appropriate action will be taken.”
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: VP JD Vance felt the need to castigate Olympians for “popping off” about politics, saying they’re there to represent Democrats and Republicans. Uh, right back atcha, sport.
JOE.MY.GOD.: Don Lemon pleads — and is — not guilty.
THE GUARDIAN: Jason Okundaye is welcoming Olivia Colman as an honorary gay man on behalf of all gay men who sometimes identify as Olivia Colman.
TRUPLAYNYC: Jesse Tyler Ferguson looks transformed for his part in Tru. Robert Morse won his second Tony for his work in this play in 1988.

Great post - as usual! xo
