Boy Culture Links: He/Him-Man, Detroit Neurosurgeon's Murderer Cops Plea, Wheelchair Tennis Champ Comes Out, Poppers Explained + More

YOUTUBE: The new trailer for Masters of the Universe reveals Nicholas Galitzine hasn’t been skipping shots meals.
It also contains a clever joke, as his alter ego has a “He/Him” deskplate. Get it? He’s He-Man. And yet the internet is taking this to mean the movie will be woke.
WXYZ: In a surprise move, Desmond Burks, who was about to stand trial in the death of gay Detroit neurosurgeon Dr. Devon Hoover, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, as well as to lesser charges. He had been charged with first-degree murder.

The plea means he is facing 35-60 or so years in prison, meaning in theory he might be free one day.
Hoover, 53, was found shot in the back of the head and stuffed into an attic crawlspace in his Detroit home in 2023 after he failed to show up for a meeting with his dying mom. Burks, 34 at the time, was an immediate suspect. He’d been in an intimate relationship with the doctor, and had taken money for sex at times. After an extensive, year-long investigation, it was alleged he’d made off with Cartier watches, cash, a phone and credit cards — which he brilliantly used on a spending spree. (Not exactly a man who thinks ahead.)
Hoover’s family is relieved. His best friend, Carol Gove said:
“I'm still a little bit in shock. Devon's sister just called me and gave me the news. I'm relieved that it's over. It's been very anxiety-producing thinking about going to testify. I'm relieved that his murderer will be locked away for the rest of his life. Nothing can bring Devon back; the people that are still suffering are his would-be patients.”
It’s really appalling to watch the video of Burks copping the plea. He comes off as almost bemused, and when asked to confirm he was taking the deal said, “Yeah.”
