Boy Culture Links: ICE Terrorizes Rolonda Watts, Gay Hockey Player Comes Out Thanks to 'Heated Rivalry,' Ric Grenell's Underground Railroad for Gays + More
JANUARY 15, 2026
OUT: Jesse Kortuem, a real-life hockey player, has come out as gay in response to Heated Rivalry fever.
He told Out:
“I know many closeted and gay men in the hockey world are being hit hard by Heated Rivalry's success. Never in my life did I think something so positive and loving could come from such a masculine sport. I've struggled the last few weeks to put these emotions into words, fearing the impact on team dynamics, etc.”
FACEBOOK: Now ICE is coming for Rolonda Watts — WTF?!
BLOOMBERG: Even Joe Rogan is now referring to ICE as the Gestapo.
NEW YORK TIMES: The son of “Goodbye Horses” singer Q Lazzarus (who died in 2022 at 61) was among American prisoners released in Venezuela. (Meanwhile, just think of all the people Trump’s had imprisoned, squirreled away who knows where all over the world.)
POLITICO: It was depressing seeing a Cuban-born gay porn actor who has been vocally Democratic stating on Instagram that he would erect a statue to Trump if he invaded Cuba, and praising him for arresting Maduro. His point was that the outcome is good, but my thought is … isn’t Venezuela trading one dictator (Maduro) for another (his loyalist 2nd-in-command, who Trump is now calling “a terrific person”)? Trump himself claims to be the country’s ruler.
He’ll also probably try to grab some glory in Iran.
I would think Venezuelans, Iranians and Cubans would be thrilled to lose their rulers, but how will they feel when Trump and American business interests slide in — and will they have any say in the matter?
TWITTER: Trump’s gay lackey Ric Grenell is under investigation for corruption, but cockily bragging that he has been secretly spiriting gay and lesbian (not trans, of course) people out of Iran for years, but that recently, one told him they wanted to wait and see. This is supposed to bolster his belief that Iran’s brutal rulers really are about to be overthrown this time.
Still, commenters aren’t feeling it. MAGA is grossed out that he is importing queers, the rest are rolling their eyes at his self-aggrandizement.
JOE.MY.GOD.: T.J. Sabula the factor worker who told Trump to his face that he is a “pedophile protector” and was punished for it has received the backing of the UAW and about a million bucks in donations from well-wishers.
INSTINCT: Paul Rudd’s huge penis. That’s the news.
SALT LAKE TRIBUNE: Meet the college president in Utah who is gay and a first-gen student.
SHANGAY: Russell Tovey, who was great in this year’s Plainclothes, opens up about the time-honored tradition of gay cruising:
“I’ve never practiced it, although I find it fascinating as a concept because it’s been practiced forever. While making [Plainclothes], I thought a lot more about George Michael, who in 1998, a year after the events depicted in the film, was arrested for cruising. Society was telling him, ‘You should be ashamed, you’re disgusting, how can you behave like that?’ And he basically responded, ‘Screw you. This is who I am. This is how I feel. This is what I do. I’m not going to accept being shamed for how I feel.’ Now I’ve been asking myself, ‘How was he able to do that back then? What a hero!’ His words are more important now than ever. I watch his interviews from that time, and I’m incredibly inspired by his courage to be authentic and speak his truth. At the time, it scared me, and now I couldn’t be more grateful to him.”
PEOPLE: I’m curious to learn if Melissa Gilbert had a clue her husband (since 2013) had been accused of groping a 16-year-old girl in 2001. He could feasibly have buried that info. I would think if she knew that and decided it was not true, having any other allegations (like the new ones involving two boys) would be enough for her to write him off. I feel like the allegations involving the boys feels flimsy, but takes on new weight when knowing he was previously very credibly accused.
DAILYKOS: Why the Clintons won’t testify before Congress — and it’s not because Bill was on the island.
INSTAGRAM: Should have noted it yesterday, but actor and writer Tom Tryon would have turned 100 this week.
