Boy Culture Links: The Lesbian Author Deported to Her Eventual Death for Being Gay, Doing Drag on MTV in 1999, 'Heated Rivalry' Heats Up Dorian TV Awards + MORE
JUNE 17, 2026

KENNETH IN THE (212): And he plays tennis, too!
HUFFINGTON POST: When it comes to Trump and Iran, he lost on all fronts. We lost on all fronts.
ACLU WISCONSIN: “How Queer Nightlife Helped Build the LGBTQ+ Rights Movement.”

FORWARD: Here’s a story I never heard about involving a lesbian who was arrested in NYC on trumped-up charges over being queer — leading to her deportation to Poland, where she was murdered at Auschwitz 16 years later. Eve Adams ran a dyke bar, which put her in the NYPD’s crosshairs. Her arrest — for disorderly conduct and obscenity (for authoring the book Lesbian Love) — is now a historical wrong Mayor Mamdani is considering righting.
Note: Only 150 copies were printed of Lesbian Love. As reported by The New York Times in 2021, the only surviving copy was left in the lobby of an NYC building, where a student picked it up, saving it from oblivion and allowing for it to be reprinted.
PEOPLE: People Magazine is introducing us to Fraser Olender, the boyfriend of Matt Rogers.
INSTAGRAM: Hedda Lettuce walks us through doing drag on MTV in 1999. The full performance:
GLAAD.ORG: GLAAD has issued its inaugural report on LGBTQ+ responsibility in the field of AI.
GOTHAMIST: Luigi Mangione will pursue a defense rooted in the state of his mental health.

DORIAN AWARDS: And finally, the full list of Dorian TV Award nominees for 2026 has arrived — with winners announced Saturday, August 15:
