Boy Culture Links: 'Heated Rivalry's' Hetero Rival, Bari Weiss Strikes Again, Liza Minnelli Cancels an NYC Stop, RIP Nicholas Brendon + MORE
MARCH 20, 2026
YOUTUBE: Off Campus promises to be the hetero version of Heated Rivalry. It, too, is based on a book series. It, too, has a super hot guy in it. Just … not several of them. Watch:
VARIETY: Bari Weiss continues on with her destruction of the CBS brand, shutting down CBS Radio after almost 100 years in operation and laying off 6% of all CBS staffers.
JOE.MY.GOD.: Sen. John Fetterman (D?-Philadelphia) is now one of the most hated elected official in the country, and only getting worse.
FACEBOOK: Sadly, Liza Minnelli is under the weather so has canceled one of her only book-promo appearances for her memoir, meaning she won’t be flying to NYC. Via her sus Facebook (meaning, I really don’t trust that she has one clue what is going up on it), she promises she isn’t that sick and will reschedule.
EXTRATV: Oh, this is so sad — shades of Matthew Perry, too: Nicholas Brendon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has died at 54. He had a long history of substance abuse and depression, and later suffered severely debilitating illnesses. His death is chalked up to natural causes, but it seems like it’s the result of his body being worn out.
He was also on Criminal Minds and, in 2000, was a lot of fun in the film adaptation of Charles Busch’s Psycho Beach Party.
GCN: David Kennerley, who compiled the must-have Getting In: NYC Club Flyers from the Gay 1990s, contributes Ian Bradley-Perrin’s new exhibition Love & Fury: New York’s Fight Against AIDS, a show up at the Poster House Museum in Chelsea, NYC.
Read David’s Q&A with Ian, which is guaranteed to make you wanna see the show.
OUT.COM: A doc says gay men who take Ozempic just to fit in may not realize it makes bottoming uncomfortable. But isn’t not improving your overall health because you can’t bottom also a questionable trade-off? (True that if you’re on a GLP-1 it gives you constipation. Miralax for the win!)
SAN FRANCISCO STANDARD: The historic Nob Hill Theatre of San Francisco is for sale for a cool $2.8M.
LOCAL 10: A Florida City, Florida, woman stands accused of cutting a young relative upon finding out he’s gay.
FACEBOOK: A not-so-clean sweep. This reminds me of the Craigslist days when people would advertise to come clean your apartment in the raw for $75. (Not that I ever sprang for it.)
